Fights Swine Flu:

Skinvisible's DermSafe chlorhexidine hand sanitizer has been tested against many bacteria and viruses. It has been proven to kill / inactivate a number of influenza A viruses; including a strain of H1N1; the swine flu virus. This virus is very similar to the current viruses being spread around the world, killing and hospitalizing many people.

The World Health Organization declared a global pandemic in June 2009 due to the spread of the H1N1 “swine flu” virus. They estimated two billion people could become infected by the H1N1 swine flu virus over the next two years — nearly 1/3 of the world’s population. In October, 2009 with the pandemic continuing to spread, President Obama declared a National Emergency in the United States due to the continued threats posed by the H1N1 virus.

Introducing DermSafe® Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer:

Skinvisible has developed an antimicrobial hand sanitizing lotion called DermSafe® using Invisicare with chlorhexidine as the active ingredient. This product has both commercial and retail potential as an adjunct to hand-washing. Chlorhexidine has been safely used in hospitals for over 50 years in hospital soap scrubs used before surgery. Independent studies verify that the product will stay on the skin for up to 4 hours and longer, killing a host of bacteria and viruses including Influenza A (common cold virus), influenza B, enterococcusfaecalis, serratia marcescens, staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), escherichia coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa, hepatitis C and most significantly; the Avian flu virus (H5N1).

The drying effect of the alcohol hand sanitizers has become a deterrent for many hospital and service workers from using the sanitizers. An opportunity has arisen for Skinvisible and its DermSafe chlorhexidine product as it does not contain alcohol and it only has to be reapplied every 4 hours.

Product Description:

DermSafe is an alcohol-free antimicrobial hand sanitizing lotion made with chlorhexidine 4% as the active ingredient. This patent-pending sanitizing hand lotion helps prevent cross-contamination of bacteria and viruses between people and from contact with hard surfaces. Skinvisible has chosen chlorhexidine as its active ingredient for it has proven ability to kill gram positive and gram negative bacteria and viruses as well as its strong affinity for binding to skin and mucous membranes.

Unique Delivery System:

What makes Skinvisible's DermSafe different from other hand sanitizers is its patented delivery system Invisicare. In vivo studies confirm that Invisicare binds to the skin's outer layer - holding ingredients like chlorhexidine on the skin for four hours and longer, even after frequent hand washing. Invisicare also forms a protective barrier that helps to keep the skin moist, which is beneficial to the healing process.

DermSafe® Viral Studies:

Skinvisible has conducted numerous bacterial and viral studies at recognized and approved FDA and EU equivalent laboratories. In vitro studies showed a greater than 99% kill on bacteria such as: Enterrococus faecalis, Serratia marcescens, Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as Type A Influenza viruses that include H1N1 ("swine flu") and H3N2; Influenza A, subtype H5N1 virus; commonly known as "avian influenza" or "bird flu"; Influenza B virus; Hepatitis C virus as well as Clostridium difficile, (C. difficile). Study results showing H1N1, H3N2 and Influenza B are shown below.
